Angel Reese, a forward for the Chicago Sky, will join Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier in their new 3v3 game league.
The league, which is called Unrivalled, says it was “built in collaboration with the biggest stars in women’s basketball.” It all starts in Miami in January 2025. There will be no WNBA games during the league’s off-season.
The league sent out a tweet welcoming Reese, calling her “the Barbie Unrivalled,” a reference to her “Bayou Barbie” at LSU. This made Reese tweet “305 Barbieeeeee” in reaction.
The Sky star just made the All-Star team and is one of the front-runners for WNBA Rookie of the Year. She has the best stats in the league, with 13.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.

Thirty players will be split into six teams for Unrivalled. Stewart, one of the founders of the league, said on GMA that the rules will be a little different, with a 60-foot court and 60 minutes of play time. More details will be released soon.
Stewart also said that the league will have the “highest average salary in women’s sports,” which means that most of the players will make more than $60,000.
It’s very normal for WNBA stars to play when the season is over. A lot of people have been to Russia in the past, but with the Russian War and Brittany Griner’s latest arrest, that may change over time.
Ten of the thirty players in the league have been named. All-Stars Chelsea Grey, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Lloyd, Kelsey Plum, Rhyne Howard, Kahleah Copper, and Jackie Young will be there with Reese, Stewart, and Collier.
During the 2024 season, more people than ever have watched the WNBA. The most recent WNBA All-Star game, between Team USA and Team WNBA, had an amazing 3.44 million watchers, beating the old record of over 2 million viewers set in 2003.
The league has also started to get a lot of money from famous people, like former NBA players Carmelo Anthony and Steve Nash and former USWNT star Megan Rapinoe. Stewart said, “Women have relied heavily on off-court sponsorships for years to make most of their money.”
Unrivalled is changing the game by putting investments in our stars first and making sure their pay matches how well they play on the court.
