The Indiana Fever were busy during the off-season. They kept All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell and traded for Sophie Cunningham, who is a candidate for Sixth Player of the Year. They also got star winger DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard. To help their bench, they got Sydney Colson and Brianna Turner.
Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Damiris Dantas, Lexie Hull, and Mitchell are the only players back from last year’s team. Clark was named Rookie of the Year. They will also have a new head coach. Stephanie White will take over for Christie Sides, who was fired after three seasons.
In 2023, the Fever picked Boston as the first player in the draft. He said that the improvements made over the offseason were good. She said on Thursday that Indiana’s front office talked about free agency with her and the other returning players.
The front office did a great job of including us in who they were looking at and how they thought they would fit with us, which I think is always very important. Boston said this Thursday at a media event for Unrivaled, the new professional women’s basketball league with three-on-three games.

Boston said that she told the front desk things like, “Oh, I definitely think it would be a good fit, or I think it would be a great fit, or maybe not so much,” as choices were being made.
Several players from last year’s Fever team have left. Temi Fagbenle was picked up by the Valkyries in their expansion draft, Erica Wheeler joined the Seattle Storm, and NaLyssa Smith was sold to the Wings in the deal that sent Cunningham to the Fever. The Fever also got Katie Lue Samuelson’s deal off the books, let Grace Berger go, and Kristy Wallace decided not to play in the 2025 WNBA season.
But Boston is very happy about the new hires. Bonner has been an All-Star six times and is the fourth-highest scorer in WNBA history. She just finished a good season with the Connecticut Sun. Howard has been named to two All-Star teams and was named Defensive Player of the Year once. Cunningham always starts and gives the team more options at the wing spot. Colson is one of the league’s most experienced players and has won a title before.

Fever Says They Will Make Big Changes To Several Caitlin Clark Games
While the WNBA is still on break, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will play their first exhibition game on May 3 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The game will be against the Washington Mystics.
The Fever also said on Thursday that both of their road games against the Mystics will now be played in different places.

“The Indiana Fever’s May 28 (7:30 p.m. ET) and Sept. 7 (3 p.m. ET) road games at the Washington Mystics, originally scheduled to be played at Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C., have been moved to CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore it was announced today,” a press release said.
The Mystics also moved two other home games to EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia. One was against A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces, who are the current WNBA MVP, and the other was against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. The move will probably allow more fans to see Clark, Wilson, and Reese play because there are so many people who want to.
Last season, the Mystics moved a home game against the Fever to Capital One Arena, which is where the Washington Wizards play. That venue can hold even more than the CFG Bank venue, which can hold 20,000 people.
Leisure and Sports Arena can only hold 4,200 people. CFG Bank Arena can hold 14,000 people, and EagleBank Arena can hold 10,000.
