Augusta National has a long list of things you can’t do, and one of them is having a cell phone on the site. Also, that rule is very strict. If you are caught with a phone, even if it’s in your pocket, you may be asked to leave the land.
The players agree with the policy’s benefits. Ludvig Aberg said it was one of his favorite things about Augusta National before the 2025 tournament: “I think just because the patrons aren’t having their phones out, it actually makes it feel like they’re so much more engaged.” With the fans, you look at them a lot more. It’s a lot more than that. You can tell they like and watch good sports.
Okay, but what about smart watches? After all, they’re not as noticeable as a regular cell phone and are much smaller. So, is it okay to wear one of these things to Augusta National?
There are some things to keep in mind about the short answer “yes.” You can bring a smart watch to The Masters, but you won’t be able to use it for much more than checking the time.
The Masters website lists smart watches and fitness trackers as things that are allowed, but it says that you can’t use them to make calls, send emails, text messages, or record or send photos, videos, or data.
That is, there is no way to get around the camera ban at tournaments by getting a quick picture or video of the action with your smart watch. Also, trying to use it to talk to other people is likely to get you in trouble.
So, smart watches are one of the few electronics that are allowed at Augusta National, but there are strict rules about how you can use them.
