DORAL, Florida — After Saturday’s quarterfinals at the 2023 LIV Golf Team Championship, the shot that everyone wanted to talk about was the one that went into the woods.

“Hey, man, heard you shanked one today,” Harold Varner III told Dustin Johnson about his 16th hole line drive.

“It wasn’t a shank,” Johnson spoke up. “It went straight ahead.”

Bubba Watson is up next. “Nice shank on 15,” he explained.

DJ said, “It was really good.” “On the hosel straight up.”

Johnson could make fun of the hole he gave Phil Mickelson after Phil Mickelson beat Johnson’s 4Aces GC 2-1 to win the match and advance to the final.

Jones said, “It went pretty much the way I thought it would.” Besides the shot on 15, which wasn’t quite what I had in mind, the rest of the day was pretty good.

The 4Aces will play in the final of the $50 million Saudi-backed league’s season finish on Sunday, along with Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC, Joaquin Niemann’s Torque GC, and Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats GC, who are the top four ranked teams.
