The Copa América 2024 will start in the United States, according to CONMEBOL, the South American Football Confederation. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is home to Atlanta United in Major League Soccer, will be the site of the first game.

Next summer, on June 20, the 48th version of the world’s oldest soccer competition for national teams will begin with its first game.

So far, as usual, the 10 South American national teams that are part of CONMEBOL will play in the Copa América next year. There will now be 16 teams in the tournament, with six national teams from CONCACAF. The CONCACAF Nations League 2023–2024 will decide which sides from CONCACAF will be able to compete.

Ángel di María scored the only goal in the final against Brazil to give Argentina their fifteenth Copa América title. The game took place at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã Stadium. Argentina also comes into the tournament as the current FIFA World Cup champion. Thiago Almada, a midfielder for Atlanta United, played in the game and became the first active MLS player to win the world title.

Argentina and Uruguay have won 15 Copa América titles between them. Brazil is in third place with nine crowns. It has been won three times by Paraguay, Chile, and Peru. Colombia and Bolivia have each won it once.

From June 20 to July 14, 2024, the Copa América USA will be held. It will be the second time the event has been held in the US. The first time was in 2016 for the Copa América Centenario, which Chile won.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is also likely to be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
