Messi’s purchase of a $10.75 million mansion shows that he is getting closer to South Florida. Lionel Messi bought a house in Fort Lauderdale for $10.75 million. Since he joined Inter Miami in June, he has been putting down roots in South Florida, and this purchase is a big part of that.

Messi’s new home is in a gated community in Fort Lauderdale called Bay Colony. It has more than 10,500 square feet, eight bedrooms, 9.5 bathrooms, a three-car garage, a pool, and a three-car garage. Forbes says that the house on the water also has two boat docks, a spa, an exercise room, and a main bedroom that is 1,600 square feet.

The home’s property taxes are expected to cost $83,400 per year. Messi’s deal with Inter Miami is said to be worth up to $150 million over two and a half years. This puts his total salary and advertising earnings at around $1.2 billion.

Messi’s brilliant play on the field helped Inter Miami win the Leagues Cup in 2023, and his presence has had a big effect on the demand for team gear, ticket sales, and MLS betting. Messi’s new income will help Inter Miami’s plan to build Miami Freedom Park, a soccer-only stadium that will cost $350 million.

The Argentine soccer legend’s first game with Inter Miami also led to 110,000 new subscriptions to MLS Season Pass, which is a viewing service for the league on Apple TV+.

The Messi family bought a new home in Fort Lauderdale with the help of Samuel and Donna Simpkin of Team Simpkin at the real estate company Compass Florida. Team Simpkin also has a deal with Inter Miami CF to be its Official Real Estate Partner.

Angel Nicolas, a real estate agent for Compass in Miami, told FOS in June that Messi’s move to the MLS would have a bigger effect on the local business than LeBron James’s move to the Miami Heat in 2010. Nicolas told FOS, “Messi is more well-known around the world now, and he will bring in more European fans than ever before.”
