Luka Doncic makes NBA history with sixth straight 30-point triple-double

When Luka Doncic recorded his sixth straight 30-point triple-double, the Dallas Mavericks easily beat the Detroit Pistons 142-124. This was the first time in NBA history that this had happened.

Doncic’s score line was jaw-dropping, as he amassed 39 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, surpassing Russell Westbrook’s previous record of five straight 30-point triple-doubles set in 2017.

Everyone on the Mavericks played well. Kyrie Irving scored 21 points, and Daniel Gafford scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and blocked four shots. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 17 points to the Mavericks’ score, making their offence stronger.

On the Pistons’ side, rookie sensation Cade Cunningham led the charge with an impressive showing of his own, racking up 33 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists. James Wiseman and Jaden Ivey each scored 17 points, and Simone Fontecchio scored 27 points.

The game featured a heated moment in the second half, resulting in the ejection of Pistons center Jalen Duren after he earned two technical fouls following an altercation with the Mavericks’ P.J. Washington. Pistons rookie forward Ausar Thompson also missed the second half due to sickness.

Doncic and Cunningham participated in an offensive duel in the first half, with both players putting up impressive numbers. Doncic scored 26 points and passed the ball six times, while Cunningham scored 24 points and passed the ball four times. This set up an exciting game.

In the second half, Dallas took charge. They started the game with a 14-6 run that made their lead over 10 points. Irving’s string of three-pointers and Hardaway’s late surge sparked the Mavericks’ offensive barrage and secured their win in the end.

Doncic left the court after getting his 10th rebound to end the game, capping off yet another historic showing in his young career.
