In the quarterfinals of the 2023 LIV Golf Team Championship, two matches went to extra holes. This set a high standard for the semifinal round on Saturday.
Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC, Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC, Joaquin Niemann’s Torque GC, and Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats GC all had a bye week. Their first round of golf this week will begin at 1:15 p.m. ET at Trump National Doral.
The four leaders were able to choose their opponents, which meant that Saturday’s games would be very good. In the round’s main match, the 4Aces GC will play HyFlyers GC, and Johnson will play Phil Mickelson. People might be interested in Watson vs. Sergio Garcia and the RangeGoats GC vs. Fireballs GC match. Neimann’s Torque GC will play Louis Oosthuizen’s Stinger GC, while DeChambeau’s Crushers will play Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC.

- Foursomes: Anirban Lahiri/Charles Howell III vs. Graeme McDowell/Bernd Wiesberger
Torque GC vs. Stinger GC
- Singles: Joaquin Niemann vs. Louis Oosthuizen
- Singles: Sebastian Munoz vs. Branden Grace
- Foursomes: Mito Pereira/David Puig vs. Charl Schwartzel/Dean Burmester
Mickelson was beaten by Smash GC’s Brooks Koepka, 6 and 4, and Majesticks GC’s Sam Horsfield was beaten by Eugenio Chacarra of the Fireballs, 6 and 5. These were the best results on Friday. Stinger GC beat Kevin Na’s Iron Heads GC 3-0 in the first round, but none of the three matches went to 18 holes.

The prize this week is a huge $50 million, with $14 million going to the winner team. The game is a mix of stroke play and match play. Each round of the quarterfinals and semifinals on Friday and Saturday has three matches: two singles matches and a foursomes (alternate shot) match. Not wearing ties. All 12 teams will play stroke play on Sunday. All four scores will count, but only the top four teams can win the top prize. During the regular season, the worst score is taken away from the team total. Teams that lose on Saturday will compete for spots 5 through 12, while teams that lose on Friday will fight for spots 9 through 12.
