Lionel Messi has changed the MLS since he joined Inter Miami, and Gerard Pique, a former friend of Messi’s at Barcelona, said something interesting about this.
Lionel Messi has only been playing for Inter Miami for a few days, but he is already changing Major League Soccer. The Argentine famous soccer player is off to a great start in the Leagues Cup, and he’s also having a great time away from the field.
After two hard years in Paris, this is what Leo, who was 36 at the time, was looking for. Now, Messi is in a place where he is loved, with friends who look up to him and fans who fill seats to watch him play.
He has never played in a league like this before, so it is a new experience for him. But it seems like he had been thinking about this idea for a while, at least that’s what Gerard Pique thinks.
Messi thought about moving to the MLS for a long time, Pique says.
“He told everyone in the locker room years ago that when he was done playing in Europe, he wanted to go to the U.S.,” Pique told the Argentine news source Ole.
“Even more so to a place like Miami, where I think he’s very comfortable. In just two games, he showed that this league is going to be a lot of fun for him. Jordi Alba and Busi Busquets have also been there. They’re going to have a good time.”
Messi finally got what he wanted, which was to try something new in a league that wants to use his reputation to help it grow. With the 7-time winner of the Ballon d’Or on board, MLS is getting more attention than ever before.
