The UK has pretty much been announced as the host country for the 2035 Women’s World Cup. The USA and Mexico are likely to host the 2031 tournament together.

At the 49th UEFA Congress in Belgrade on Thursday, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said that they had only gotten “one valid bid” for each of the next two Women’s World Cups. The event will take place in Brazil in 2027.

“I can confirm that we have received one bid for 2031, and one valid bid for 2035,” Infantino said. “The bid for 2031 comes from the United States and maybe some other CONCACAF countries as well.” The bid for 2035 comes from Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.

So, the path is there for the Women’s World Cup to be taking place in 2031 and 2035 in some great countries, in some great nations, to boost even more the women’s football movement.

Last year, it was confirmed that the US and Mexican football federations would work together to hold the global tournament. The US, Mexico, and Canada will host the 2026 Men’s World Cup, even though political issues are rising between the three North American countries.

A first-ever Women’s World Cup being held in Britain excited Mark Bullingham, CEO of the English Football Association. We are honoured to be the sole bidder for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2035,” Bullingham said. It will be very special to host the first FIFA World Cup since 1966 with our partner countries.” To make the best bid by the end of the year, the hard work begins now.

At the FIFA congress next year, the official hosts will be chosen and approved.

England made it to the 2023 Women’s World Cup final, but lost to Spain by a single goal. They are currently the defending European winners.
