“Everyone and his brother here to give it a try” because five cards are back at PGA Tour Q-School.

BEACH, FLA. (WFTV) – Since his grandpa Arnold Palmer died in 2016, Sam Saunders hasn’t been able to find a new swing coach. If his game does go off the rails, though, he first calls his friend Eric Cole. Cole had a big year on the PGA Tour in 2022–23 and is now ranked No. 41 in the world.
The player said, “He still wants me to reach out to him, and I do.” “He helps me get back on track.”

When Saunders played in the major leagues, Cole worked as his caddie on the PGA Tour. Cole was still trying to find his game on the mini-tours. Cole most likely would have played the same part this week as Saunders tries to get promoted to the golden land through PGA Tour Qualifying School.

Saunders said, “He would have done it if he wasn’t on his honeymoon.” ‘Dude, you can’t get divorced two days after getting married,'” “Go get one of the five cards this week,” he told me at his wedding. It would make my life so much better if you were with me. Do it already. Also, yes, it would be amazing if we could play together on the PGA Tour.

The final step of PGA Tour Q-School is the first time since 2012 that PGA Tour cards are on the line. For the past ten years, only different levels of Korn Ferry Tour membership have been given out. There will be two 18-hole rounds of the 72-hole event, starting on Thursday at both Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass and Sawgrass Country Club. The top five finishers and ties will receive PGA Tour membership for 2024. Again, there is a chance for one of the 165 players in the group to go from being unknown to passing “Go” and winning a lot more than $200 on the PGA Tour.

Saunders already has a spot on the Korn Ferry Tour for next season, so he doesn’t have anything to lose.

“This is my house money,” he said. “Getting sixth place doesn’t help me in terms of where I stand.” “I can hit the pins hard and play rougher than some other guys.”

Poor Patton Kizzire hasn’t had to play Q-School in a long time. He cried when he realized that he would no longer be protected when he realized at the RSM Classic last month that he had not finished in the top 125. He will still have limited status at No. 129, playing out of the Nos. 126–150 group, but the chance to get full status is too good to pass up.

He said, “All it is is a chance for me to move up.”

This week’s purse is a modest $510,000, with $50,000 going to the winner. However, Saunders said that money is the last thing on anyone’s thoughts.

“That is what makes it so pure. He said, “You’re playing for your whole career or for a whole year.”

“It’s like the Olympics.” People work very hard for four years, and then they have their one event. If something goes wrong, they feel like they have to wait four more years. In golf, the wait isn’t that long, but if you mess up at Q-School and leave with limited status, you feel like, “Oh my gosh, I’ve got to wait a whole other year—if I can make it back to this point,” which makes it very hard.

It’s going to be cold, windy, and rainy, so the weather could be rough. There will be no way to fake it if those conditions hold true.

“Sometimes you have to accept the suck,” Ryan Gerard said. “It’s going to suck for a few days out here.”
