Since the beginning of the new season, Novak Djokovic has had some tough times, possibly more than he thought he would.

Djokovic is "five steps ahead" of two opponents, according to Ivanisevic

The 24-time major champion has not performed as well as he did in 2023, following a few unanticipated losses in the early weeks of the year.

The French Open is coming up soon, and Nole wants to be at his best to have a chance to defend his title there. That’s why he pulled out of the Madrid Open to try to get in better shape and get his energy back for the second Grand Slam event of the year.

Djokovic won the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open in 2023. He also made it to the Wimbledon final that year. Even though he is 36 years old, it was one of the best years of his career. However, the high level of expectation he has had to deal with throughout his career seems to be wearing him down now.

Ivanisevic: “Carlos and Jannik are five steps ahead of him.”

Goran Ivanisevic, who used to teach Djokovic, is one of the people who knows the Serb master the best. He talked about Djokovic’s problems with Sportal.blic.rs.

“Training is one thing, but games are something else.” You need to work out. People say he doesn’t seem motivated, but he broke all the records and won everything he could, and he said, “It’s not easy to keep yourself motivated over and over again.”

“You can’t expect great things if you don’t train.” He is very smart and great at adapting to different situations. There are players you can tie his hands and feet and he will still beat them, but it is harder against Sinner and Alcaraz, Ivanisevic said.

“Aside from Novak, Jannik and Carlos are five steps ahead of everyone else right now.” The 2001 Wimbledon winner said, “I’ll say it again: it all depends on him—how motivated he is, where he plays, and how he looks on the court.”

The Italian Open, which takes place in Rome from May 8–19, is where Nole is likely to play tennis again. His main goals this year are the French Open and the Paris Olympics. The Serb will hope to be ready for both.

How long are tennis matches?

Tennis is one of my favourite sports to watch because you can’t tell what will happen next. A match that was supposed to end quickly can become an epic, but a match that looks like it’s closely matched can also end quickly. There are bad days for everyone, even the best tennis players. This is why it’s hard to say how long a tennis match lasts. A lot of matches are decided by the best of three sets, with a tie-break in each set if needed. However, men’s grand slam matches go all the way to the best of five sets, and sometimes there is no tie-break in the last set.
