Even though they made it to the NBA Finals in a very unlikely way, the Miami Heat did not reach their final goal this season. You can expect the front office to work hard to find ways to get better. As the Heat think about their choices this summer, they might want to look at Tyler Herro and rethink how he fits into their long-term plans.

The young guard missed all but one game in the playoffs this year, but guys like Caleb Martin, Gabe Vincent, and (of course) Jimmy Butler stepped up to help the Heat play better without him. One former executive says that Herro’s offensive habits of stopping the ball make Miami better off without him.

“He needs to have the ball in his hands,” a former NBA official told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report. “I think that as a team, they play better without him. He is called Lowry. Vincent is his own name. Maybe they don’t get as much done with Herro around. He is also a weakness in their defence.”

Herro is a good shot and a great scorer who has helped the Heat many times since he joined the team in 2019. Fans have recently started to notice that Herro’s game has some obvious flaws, especially on defence, where he often gives up points.

So, given everything, it’s not surprising that the Heat are going this way. But the question is who the Heat could get in exchange for Herro, and would that be enough to win a championship before the window shuts for good?

Damian Lillard is likely to be pursued by the Heat.

After losing again in the NBA Finals, the Heat have nowhere else to go but the trade market. They need another star, so it’s no surprise that point guard Damian Lillard has been linked to them as a possible landing spot this summer.

Brian Windhorst said on First Take, “The team I’m following is the Miami Heat.” “The Heat are ready to move on to their next star window. What they do is this. The Heat goes on star hunts. If he were born at the same time as Jimmy Butler, he would be about the same age.

Of course, Lillard keeps saying he wants to stay with the Blazers, and there’s no way to know for sure if they’ll let him go this summer. The Heat are going to see what they can get for Tyler Herro, whether it’s Dame or another big-name player. Don’t be surprised if they make a deal if the price is right.
