The fact that golf swings move might be the most interesting thing about them. Sometimes for the better: with smart practise, a mistake can be quickly fixed. Sometimes your swing is right where you want it to be, but then a bad habit starts to creep back in.
Recently, this has been the case with Rory McIlroy. His golf swing was just the way he liked it at the end of the 2022 season, but it wasn’t quite right when the 2023 season started. He is currently 154th on the PGA Tour in Greens in Regulation, and even though he tied for 7th at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill, he says he isn’t playing his best golf.
If you want to learn more, I wrote about the swing problems Rory has been having, but in a nutshell: Rory says that his club gets out of place at the top of his backswing and ends up across the line, which causes a lot of problems on the downswing.
Rory says he’s been trying to fix this by “keeping some strength in the club face” on the backswing instead of letting the clubface turn too far open. Now, he seems to have found a way to make that happen.

McIlroy was seen using ProSendr on the driving range before the Memorial. ProSendr was made by Golf Digest Top 50 Teacher Sean Foley and Golf Digest Best in State David Woods. Woods says the tool is meant to help make the right “wrist structure” in the golf swing, which can stop the clubface from rolling too far open or closed.
