Phil Mickelson, a famous golfer, had a bad hole at this week’s PGA Championship. The left-handed player finished round two well below the cut line.

With a score of eighteen over par after the first round, Mickelson would need a miracle to change his luck.

Mickelson was two-under for the day after the first nine holes. A birdie on the eleventh hole made him three-under for the day and five-under for the round.

That didn’t last long, though, because of a disaster on the 12th hole.

Mickelson hit his tee shot 323 yards long, leaving him with a 121-yard shot to the hole. His second shot, on the other hand, missed the green and went into a hole to the left.

It was there where the nightmare began. The player Mickelson, who is known for his great short game, just couldn’t leave the beach.

For some reason, Mickelson had to try four times to get out of the ditch at the 12th hole before he finally did.

Plus, the shot that finally made it out of the sand trap went a long way from the hole.

It left him with a bogey putt from almost 54 feet out, which he rolled to within three feet of the hole and then tapped in for a double bogey.

Mickelson made two bogeys and two birdies in the last six holes, putting him nine over for the event and way outside the cut line for the fourth time in his last five majors.

Mickelson, 54, hasn’t done well at a major tournament since winning the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island in 2021. His best finish at a major was tying for second at The Masters in 2023.

Besides that? There was a T62 at the US Open at Torrey Pines in 2021, a T58 at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill in 2023, and a T60 at the Open Championship at Royal Troon in 2024. He also missed eight cuts.
