On the 21st (local time), President Yoon Suk Yeol began a six-day state tour to the Middle East as he landed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
At Riyadh Airport, President Yoon and First Lady Kim Keon Hee descended from Air Force One.
Two Saudi F-16 fighter planes flanked Air Force One on each side as it entered Saudi airspace.
President Yoon and his wife were met with a 21-gun salute from the Saudi side. The ground was covered with a purple carpet, and a platform was erected.
First Lady Kim donned a white blouse and an ivory suit, while President Yoon wore a black suit and an ivory necktie.
They were greeted by Mayor Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Mekrin, Deputy Governor Mohammad bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, and Saudi Ambassador to Korea Sami Al-Sadhan.
Park Joon Yong, our ambassador to Saudi Arabia, was present.
Beginning on the 22nd, President Yoon will begin his state visit itinerary, which includes luncheons and talks with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Along with 300 businesses from both nations, he is also expected to attend the Korea-Saudi Arabia Investment Forum on November 22 and the Future Investment Initiative Forum, commonly known as “Davos in the Desert,” on November 24.
The next stop for President Yoon will be Doha, Qatar, where he will meet with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and attend a state dinner on April 25.
Economic delegations, comprising 130 Saudi Arabians and 59 Qataris, are traveling with the visit.
On the 25th, President Yoon will leave for home in the late afternoon and land in Korea on the 26th.
